കേരള പവര്‍ ഫിനാന്‍സ് കോര്‍പ്പറേഷന്‍ (KSPIFC) സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ ഊര്‍ജ്ജമേഖലയുടെ ത്വരിത വികസനത്തിനാവശ്യമായ സാമ്പത്തിക ലഭ്യത ഉറപ്പുവരുത്തുന്നതിനായി കേരള സര്‍ക്കാരും സംസ്ഥാന വിദ്യുത്ച്ഛക്തി വകുപ്പും ചേര്‍ന്ന് കേരള പവര്‍ ഫിനാന്‍സ് കോര്‍പ്പറേഷന്‍ ലിമിറ്റഡ് (KSPIFC) രൂപീകരിച്ചു. 1998 മാര്‍ച്ച് 20ന് രൂപം കൊണ്ട ഈ പ്രസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ വാണിജ്യപരമായ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ 1999 മാര്‍ച്ചില്‍ ആരംഭിച്ചു.
ഊര്‍ജ്ജമേഖലയിലെ സാധ്യതകളുടെ കുറവ് മനസ്സിലാക്കിയും അടിസ്ഥാന വികസനമേഖലയിലെ വര്‍ദ്ധിച്ചുവരുന്ന സാധ്യതകള്‍ മുന്നില്‍കണ്ടും കമ്പനിയുടെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനമേഖല വൈവിധ്യവല്‍ക്കരിച്ച് അടിസ്ഥാന വികസനമേഖലയിലേക്കു കൂടി വ്യാപിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ കമ്പനി ഡയറക്ടര്‍ ബോര്‍ഡ് തീരുമാനിച്ചു. ഈ തീരുമാനത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ വശങ്ങള്‍ പരിഗണിച്ച സര്‍ക്കാര്‍, 2000 ആഗസ്റ്റ്:3ന് Go.Ms 21/20066pd എന്ന ഉത്തരവിലൂടെ കമ്പനിയുടെ ആര്‍ട്ടിക്കിള്‍സ് ഓഫ് അസോസിയേഷന്‍ ഭേദഗതി വരുത്തുന്നതിനും കേരളാ സ്റേറ്റ് പവര്‍ ആന്‍റ് ഇന്‍ഫ്രാസ്ട്രക്ചര്‍ ഫിനാന്‍സ് കോര്‍പ്പറേഷന്‍ ലിമിറ്റഡ് എന്ന് പുനര്‍നാമകരണം ചെയ്യുന്നതിനും അനുമതി നല്‍കി.
അടിസ്ഥാന സൗകര്യവികസനത്തിനുവേണ്ടി പണം നല്‍കുന്ന മേഖലയിലെ അനന്തസാധ്യതകള്‍ തുറന്നുകിട്ടാന്‍ ഈ പുന: സംഘടന ഉപകരിച്ചു. 2007 ജനുവരി 8 മുതല്‍ കമ്പനി പുതിയ പേരില്‍ ഇടപാടുകള്‍ നടത്തിവരുന്നു.
തിരുവനന്തപുരത്ത് വെള്ളയമ്പലത്ത് കെ.എസ്സ്.ഇ.ബി സെക്ഷന്‍ ഓഫീസിനടുത്തുള്ള സ്വന്തം കെട്ടിടത്തിലാണ് ( കെ.പി.എഫ്.സി ഭവനം) കമ്പനി നടത്തിവരുന്നത്. 2.51 കോടി രൂപ മുതല്‍ മുടക്കി നാലുനിലകളിലായി 1754.93. ചതുരശ്രമീറ്റര്‍ വിസ്തീര്‍ണമാനുള്ളത്. ഒന്നും രണ്ടും മൂന്നും നിലകള്‍ കേരള സ്റോറ്റ് ഇലക്ട്രിസിറ്റി റഗുലേറ്ററി കമ്മീഷന്‍ (കെ.എസ്സ്.ഇ.ബി ആര്‍ സി)ക്ക് 25 വര്‍ഷത്തേക്ക് പാട്ടത്തിന് നല്‍കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
